Fairway Market and Columbia Athletics Team Up For Breast Cancer Research
For the second year in a row, Fairway Market joined Columbia Athletics in raising money and awareness for breast cancer research as part of the WBCA's "Pink Zone" initiative.
This year's game took place on February 5, 2011 when Columbia hosted Yale. The game drew a crowd of over 1,200 fans to see the Lions defeat the Bulldogs, 67-57. Columbia Athletics donated 50% of all ticket proceeds and all on-site donations to the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Columbia University Medical Center. Fairway Market, a platinum sponsor of Columbia Athletics, matched all on-site donations totaling $804 and presented the HICCC with their contribution on Thursday. Total contributions for the night were $5,209.

"We thank Randi Glickberg, Chief Operating Officer at Fairway Market, for their continued support of the Pink Zone game and look forward to increasing this donation next year."
This is the fourth year that Columbia has participated in the Pink Zone effort and contributions to the HICCC now total over $17,000 over that time.
