NEW YORK - First-year volleyball player Atlanta Moye-McLaren and junior football player Marcorus Garret have been named Columbia Student-Athletes of the Month for September.

Moye-McLaren swept the Ivy League awards on Sep. 18, earning both Player and Co-Rookie of the Week honors after claiming MVP of the Columbia Invitational. In three matches, she averaged 2.42 kills and 3.5 digs per set to go with five service aces.

Garrett got off to a fast start to the 2012 season, rushing for 120 yards and the game-winning score against Marist on Sep. 17. He followed up, 170 yards on the ground against Fordham, which was the most rushing yards by a Columbia player since 2009. Garrett's back-to-back 100-yard performances were also the first by a Lions running back since Ray Rangel in 2009.
