Jacqueline Blackett
Senior Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator

Jacqueline P. Blackett joined the staff at Columbia University in 1989 and became an Athletics Administrator in 1993, after four years as head coach of women's track and field, and cross country.

After serving as the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Support Services for over a decade, Blackett was named Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator in 2010.

In her new role, Blackett will represent Columbia at select Ivy League and NCAA meetings while working closely with Dr. M. Dianne Murphy, Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education, on other important matters related to the athletics department.

In July 2009, Blackett was recognized for her outstanding efforts on behalf of Columbia's student-athletes when she was named the Jostens Administrator of the Year in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) by the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA).

"Jackie Blackett is extremely deserving of this special honor," said Dr. M. Dianne Murphy, Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.  "She is truly dedicated to our student-athletes and enriches their Columbia experience with all that she does.  Jackie is an asset to our athletics department and our University, and we are so lucky to have her at Columbia.”

As the Associate A.D. for Student-Athlete Support Services, she served as the campus liaison for the Lions’ student-athletes, working closely with the Deans, registrars and various administrative offices. Acting as a resource, she provided academic and personal counseling for Columbia’s more than 800 student-athletes.

Blackett was chair of the NCAA Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet from 2005-07 and currently serves on the NCAA Soccer Rules Committee. She is a current member of NACWAA and is a 1997 graduate of the NACWAA/Hers Institute.

A native of Barbados who grew up in Brooklyn, Blackett was an outstanding athlete at the University of Rochester, where she earned her B.A. in psychology in 1981. She was co-captain and three-time MVP of the Yellowjacket track & field squads. She lives on Morningside Heights.
