NEW YORK – The Columbia archery team continued to improve its indoor efforts Saturday, as the Lions took part in the FITA Archers of Pennsylvania Indoor State Championships in Reading, Pa., with strong results. Senior Sarah Chai led the way with a top finish in the collegiate recurve division. 

Chai was one of three Lions in the top spots of the Collegiate Female Recurve division this weekend, shooting 551 to lead the pack. Senior Anna Harrington finished second, with 529 points, while first-year Sarah Bernstein rounded out the top three with a score of 527. Grace Kim also broke the 500 mark, scoring 517 points to finish fourth.  

Also competing in the recurve division were first-year Miryung Yang (488), senior Kate Cwynar (who shot a season-best 477), senior Aaqilah Chambers (460), sophomore Sara Lavenhar (449), and sophomore Marilyn He (471). 

In the collegiate compound division, senior Sydney Shaefer was once again the top finisher for Columbia, as she shot a season best 562, to finish second overall. Sophomore Mary Quien was next, as she came in fourth with a score of 549, while first-year Gladys Velez-Caicedo continued to improve, setting a new personal best with a score of 536. 

Up next for the Lions is the US Indoor Regionals and Nationals, which will take place March 9 and 10, in Harrisonburg, Va.
