Archery Dominates At ERIAC and NECAT Tournaments
The Lions dominated the recurve division placing five archers in the top 10, including all of the top four spots. Jennifer Zhu walked away with the silver medal, Tiffany Kim took the bronze medal, Sarah Bernstein placed fourth and Sara Lavenhar finished eighth respectively. The recurve team also took home the gold beating out James Madison.
Five members of the Columbia archery team were also named to the All-East Team for the 2013 season. Hoffman earned a spot on the All-East team in compound, while Tiffany Kim, Grace Kim, Lavenhar received All-East honors for women’s recurve.
The All-East team is decided by an archer's combined scores from three of four major tournaments throughout the season: US Indoor National East Regional, Adam Wheatcroft Invitational, the Nanook of the North, and the Eastern Regional Intercollegiate Archery Championships (ERIAC).
Before heading to Williamsport, Pa., Columbia competed in the New England Collegiate Archery Tournament (NECAT) from April 12-14. In Storrs, Conn., the Lions continued with solid performances in the women’s recurve.
In the compound division, Hoffman placed third with a score of 616 and Quien took fifth place at 521.
Up next, the Lions will cap the season with the USCA National Championships, which will take place Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 19 in Cedar City, Utah.
