East Regional Results
LANCASTER, Pa. - The Columbia archery team reached the heart of its indoor season this past weekend as they competed at the East Regional section of the 2014 USCA National Indoor Championships from Saturday, March 1 – Sunday, March 2. The Lions capped the indoor season with impressive performances in both the recurve and compound divisions.
For the second consecutive year, Tiffany Kim led the Columbia dominance in the recurve with a top tally of 1,084 points, including daily scores of 543 and 541. Grace Kim finished as the regional runner-up with ascore of 1,069 points, followed by Joy Chang in third place at 1,057 points and Alyssa Pocesion in fourth place at 1, 036 points.
In the female compound, Judy Zhou shot scores of 571 and 574 for a first-place regional tally of 1,145 points. Julie Hoffman was slightly behind in third-place at 1,134 points, Mary Quien followed in sixth-place at 1,110 points and Marilyn He rounded out the top 10 at 1093 points. After joining the team less than a year ago, walk-on Victoria Lai had a personal-best day with a score of 1,070 points to place 12th overall.
In the recurve, Columbia placed four archers in the national top 10. Tiffany Kim's top east regional score (1084) stood fourth place overall in the national score, followed by Grace Kim in fifth place (1069), Chang took eighth place (1057) and Pocesion grabbed tenth place (1056).
In the compound, Zhou earned the top honor for the Lions with her regional score placing third best overall (1145). Hoffman's score of 1134 stood seventh best, Quien finished 14th at 1110 and He rounded the top 25 at 1070 for 24th-place overall.
