In a big weekend for the Columbia archery team, the Lions put together several top performances at the 2013 Eastern Regional Intercollegiate Archery Championships, April 19-21 in Williamsport, Pa.

Julie Hoffmann grabbed a gold medal in the women’s compound division and Grace Kim won the women’s recurve division.

The Lions dominated the recurve division placing five archers in the top 10, including all of the top four spots. Jennifer Zhu walked away with the silver medal, Tiffany Kim took the bronze medal, Sarah Bernstein placed fourth and Sara Lavenhar finished eighth respectively. The recurve team also took home the gold beating out James Madison.

Five members of the Columbia archery team were also named to the All-East Team for the 2013 season. Hoffman earned a spot on the All-East team in compound, while Tiffany Kim, Grace Kim, Bernstein and Lavenhar received All-East honors for women’s recurve.

The All-East team is decided by an archer's combined scores from three of four major tournaments throughout the season: US Indoor National East Regional, Adam Wheatcroft Invitational, the Nanook of the North, and the Eastern Regional Intercollegiate Archery Championships (ERIAC).

Before heading to Williamsport, Pa., Columbia competed in the New England Collegiate Archery Tournament (NECAT) from April 12-14. In Storrs, Conn., the Lions continued with solid performances in the women’s recurve.

Bernstein led the Lions dominance in the recurve with a first-place finish in the olympic rounds. Columbia swept the top four with Tiffany Kim (2nd), Grace Kim (3rd) and Zhu (4th).

In the compound division, Hoffman placed third with a score of 616 and Quien took fifth place at 521.

Up next, the Lions will cap the season with the USCA National Championships, which will take place Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 19 in Cedar City, Utah.
