NEW YORK – Two Columbia archers – one current, one former – made the first cut at the first US Olympic trials this past weekend in College Station, Texas.
Columbia senior Sarah Chai and Stephanie Miller ’07CC both placed in the ranking round, with Chai placing 15th, and Miller placing 12th. After the round robin matches, Chai remained in 15th, while Miller moved up to 10th overall.
Throughout round robin match play, archers were ranked according to factors such as their three arrow end averages and wins or losses, as well as any bonus points earned during the ranking round. The Olympic Team Trials for Archery will continue beginning April 23 with the second Nomination Shoot in Chula Vista, California, in which the top eight archers in each category will be selected. The final three person teams and alternates will be named at the final Trials event in Colorado Springs in June.
