Defending National Championship Archery Team to Host Friends & Family Day Saturday

NEW YORK - The Columbia archery team, winners of the 2011 United States Intercollegiate Archery Championships in the recurve division, will host its annual Friends and Family Day, Saturday, December 3. The event is open to the community, and will feature demonstrations by the Columbia team, as well as a chance to try the Olympic sport of archery first-hand. 

"We really look forward to this event each year," head coach Derek Davis said. "It's not only a chance to showcase our skills, but an opportunity to share that experience with the community. It's always a fun time for everyone."

The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, in the LeFrak Gymnasium on the campus of Barnard College, located at 117th and Broadway. The event has drawn hundreds of participants int he past, including fans, friends, family and alumni. 

Starting at 12 p.m., the archery team will explain their sport and give demonstrations to the crowd, before the attendees will be given the opportunity to try the sport for themselves.
