MOSCOW, Russia - With a current Columbian and two incoming first-years on its squad, the U.S. Women's Foil Team advanced to the finals of the Junior World Championships for the second straight year on Friday and walked away with the tenth medal of the event for Team USA.

Sophomore Nzingha Prescod and incoming first-years Margaret Lu and Jackie Dubrovich built a 40-14 lead in their opening bout against the Ukraine before Lee Kiefer, a 2011 Senior World medalist, was substituted in to close out the match, 45-16.

In the quarter-finals, the foursome competed against Germany and held their opponents to single digits for the first seven bouts of the match. Kiefer anchored again and Team USA won the match, 45-13.

The semifinal bout proved to be Team USA's first challenge of the day as Russia took a 25-21 lead after the fifth bout, but Prescod outscored Leyla Pirieva, 9-1, to pull Team USA ahead, 30-26.

Lu held onto the lead with a 5-4 win over Adelina Zagidullina to bring the score to 35-30 and both Prescod and Kiefer won their next two bouts to end the match, 45-34.

In the gold medal match, Team USA was matched with Italy - a team that went 1-2-3 in the individual event and was determined to defend last year's title and did, with a 45-34 victory.

Despite the loss in the finals, the Junior Women's Foil team had a Columbia Blue feel to it and a silver-medal finish.
