Hadzic Places 10th at Fencing World University Games

NEW YORK – Columbia fencing senior Alen Hadzic notched a career-best finish last week when he placed 10th at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.

Hadzic, a 2010 Junior World Team member, finished 4-2 in the pools and entered the table of 64 as the No. 20 seed, where he defeated Elmir Alimzhanov of Kazakhstan, 15-11.

In the table of 32, Hadzic edged Yuval Shalom Freilich of Israel by a 15-14 score. Hadzic finished in the top 10 after falling 15-10 to Sten Prinitis of Estonia in the table of 16.
