NEW YORK – Columbia will return to action on Sunday, February 27 at the United States Weapon Squad Championships at NYU's Coles Sports Center.  The meet will take place in a relay-style scoring system, up to 45 touches.

The meet will take place between the different weapon squads – sabre vs. sabre, foil vs. foil and epee vs. epee – among 14 of the nation's elite teams.  Each team will fence the normal three competitors per weapon in all three weapons and the winner will be determined based on cumulative touches.

Columbia is returning from the Ivy League Championships on February 12-13 when the women came in second place.  A 15-12 loss to undefeated Princeton was all that separated the Lions from the title.  On the men's side, Columbia was held without a win, coming up on the short end of two 15-12 bouts with a squad that primarily featured five first-years, one sophomore and three juniors.

The Lions will take to the strips at NYU's Coles Sports Center for the third time this season.  Fencing begins on Sunday at 9 a.m.
