NEW YORK – With a home meet and the Ivy League Championships on tap this week, Columbia fencing spent last weekend continuing the 2013-14 World Cup season at various events across the globe. Three Lions earned medals, including a silver medal performance by Nzingha Prescod, while Jackie Dubrovich and Geoffrey Loss claimed bronze, respectively.

Prescod was in Gdansk, Poland for the Foil Grand Prix World Cup where she entered the draw in the table of 64. The Brooklyn native won seven of eight bouts, including a thrilling 15-14 decision over Russia’s Inna Deriglazova in the quarterfinals, and only fell to reigning Senior World Champion Arianna Errigo from Italy in the final. Her performance moved her up to No. 6 in the world rankings on Monday.

Dubrovich took the strips in Leon, France where she entered a field of 85 foilists at the Junior World Cup for her fourth medal in World Cup events. Fellow foilist Sara Taffel also had a strong showing, posting an eighth-place finish.

Loss remained in the United States, competing at the Phoenix Junior Sabre World Cup among a group of 59 athletes.

A complete list of Columbians (past and present) are listed below.

The Lions are back on campus for their final home meet of the season when they welcome Vassar, Sacred Heart and NYU to the Blue Gym on Wednesday, Feb. 5 beginning at 5 p.m. Also, check gocolumbialions.com later this week for a preview of the Ivy League Round Robin Championships on Thursday.
