Field Hockey Suffers Setback to #3 Princeton

NEW YORK - Columbia field hockey saw its six-game win streak snapped after falling to #3 Princeton, 8-0, on Friday night at the Columbia Field Hockey Venue. The Lions (6-3, 2-1)are back in action on Wednesday, October 3 when they welcome Rider to the Baker Athletics Complex.

Michelle Cesan opened the scoring six minutes in, sneaking by the Columbia defense for her fifth score of the year. Allison Evans potted two more goals over the next four minutes and the Tigers (8-1, 3-0) took a 6-0 advantage into the break.

The Lions were more agressive in the second half, gaining more possession and earning eight penalty corners. However, Columbia could not find the back of the net. Debi Jantzen and the nation's leading scorer, Kathleen Sharkey, each scored in the final frame to cap the scoring.

Paige Simmons led the offense with four shots and Christie O'Hara made 12 stops in net.

Gametime for Wednesday's tilt with the Broncs is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
