Kozlowski Named Second Team All-Mideast Region
NEW YORK - Field hockey sophomore sensation Gabby Kozlowski was named All-Mideast Region by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday, November 18. Kozlowski was selected to the second team, marking the first all-region honor in her young career.
The 2010 season was a break out one for the sophomore who was named a unanimous first team All-Ivy League honoree, becoming the first Lion to be a unanimous selection since Megan Davidson '09CC and Gena Miller '09CC accomplished the feat in 2007.
Kozlowski exploded on the offensive side of the field, quadrupling her goal output from a season ago as a first-year. The Voorhees, N.J. native, led the team in scoring with 16 goals and added two assists for 34 points. More impressively, her 16 goals set Columbia's single-season program record for goals in a season, surpassing Nikki Campbell's 15 set back in 2000. Campbell '02CC was inducted into the Columbia Athletics Hall of Fame in October 2010.
In conference play, Kozlowski netted seven goals and 16 points, both of which ranked third best in the league. On October 26, the sophomore was named the Ivy League Player of the Week after a monstrous week. The Ivy Player of the Week honor was the first for a Columbia player in nearly two years.
