NEW YORK - The Columbia field hockey team fell to Dartmouth, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon after three unanswered goals by the Big Green (9-5, 4-1) in the second half. The game marked the final home contest for the Lions' six seniors.

Christie O'Hara made a season-high 15 saves. Bridget DeSandis, Katie DeSandis, and Paige Simmons each had multi-point games.

Columbia started out fast, scoring on its first shot of the game 1:17 in. Off a penalty corner, Katie DeSandis tipped in a shot off a penalty corner to give the Lions a 1-0 advantage.

Dartmouth's Olivia Quaglia evened the score in the fifth minute. After a bit of a scramble off a penalty corner, May Herm fed Quaglia, who potted her first goal of the year. Just over four minutes later, the Big Green took the lead, 2-1, after a shot by Lisa Masini beat O'Hara over her shoulder.

In the 29th minute, Columbia answered back off another corner situation. Katie DeSandis fed Bridget DeSandis, who settled the ball for Simmons. Simmons shot found the back of the net to tie the score.

Herm tallied what ended up being the game-winner just three minutes into the second half, finishing a pass from Ali Savage to give the Big Green a 3-2 lead. Quaglia added an insurance goal in the 58th minute and with the Lions sending everyone forward Dartmouth scored with just three seconds remaining.

Dartmouth held a 24-15 edge on shots and a 16-12 margin on penalty corners.

Columbia will hit the road to face Yale on Saturday, October 27. Game-time is slated for noon.
