NEW YORK – Fresh off her second team All-Ivy League honor last week, Columbia field hockey sophomore Christina Freibott was named National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Mideast Region Second Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
"Christina is a gamer, there's no question,” head coach Marybeth Freeman said. “With her tenacity on defense and craftiness in our front field, she is our central midfielder for a reason. She has all the skill and game sense, but her competitive drive and selfless play is why she excels at this level. We're very proud of Christina and happy she continually wants to see all she can learn here at Columbia."
Freibott led the squad with six assists and posted five goals and 16 points to rank second on the club. The Wilmington, Del., native more than doubled her scoring output from her rookie campaign and was named to the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll twice (Oct. 13 and Oct. 20).
This marks the 10th consecutive season, Columbia has put at least one player on an All-Region squad, dating back to 2004.
