NEW YORK - Head field hockey coach Marybeth Freeman has announced that Ellie Robertson will join the class of 2015.  Robertson will round out the seven-person class set to join the Lions in the fall of 2011.

"Ellie has a very calm demeanor on the field and looks to play simple, combination hockey," said Freeman.  "She has a solid base of fundamentals, and the staff is looking forward to working with Ellie to build on her technical skills and tactical knowledge of the game. I'm confident that Ellie will flourish in this academic environment and I know she is just as eager as we are to have her join the squad and be a part of our field hockey family."

Robertson will come to Morningside Heights from Cincinnati, Ohio where she was a two-year letterwinner at Ursuline Academy.  As a midfield/forward, Robertson was honorable mention all-league as a junior and first team all-league as a senior.  Off the field she was the co-president of the National Honors Society and earned honors all four years.

"Columbia is the perfect fit for me because it is located in a beautiful city, has a very strong field hockey program, is known for its academic excellence, and above all it has an incredible atmosphere that I cannot wait to be a part of," said Robertson.

Robertson's father, Hal Robertson '81SEAS, was a two-sport student-athlete at Columbia, playing both baseball and football.

Robertson will join Zoe Blake, Caroline Donnal, Kyle Marsh, Marlee Silverstein, Lauren Skudalski, and Erike Thompson in the class of 2015.
