Gaughn, Spencer Named October Student-Athletes of the Month
Gaughn was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 23 after becoming the first Columbia player to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs for her career. The outside hitter accomplished the feat after a 16-kill, 18-dig performance to lead the Lions to a five-set win at Cornell.
For the month, Gaughn posted five double-doubles in seven of the Lions' matches, and led the team in kills on five occasions in October.
Spencer led Columbia to a second place finish at the 2012 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships on October 27th after placing third. For his efforts, he earned first team All-Ivy League honors and ran a personal-best time of 23:50.6.
Spencer and the rest of the cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Madison, Conn. on Friday, Nov. 9.
