Field Hockey Posts 12 Players on NFHCA DI National Academic Squad
CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Columbia field hockey team had 12 players represented on the 2013 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad, as announced on March 19. Columbia's 12 Academic Squad representatives ties Harvard for third-most in the Ivy League this year.
Each year, the NFHCA honors student-athletes that record a GPA of 3.30 and above on the National Academic Squad.
Danielle Cosentino and Creaghan Peters led Columbia's honorees as four-year members of the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. Cosentino was also earned a place with the 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction, which are student‐athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2013‐14 academic year.
"We are proud of these women for maintaining a wonderful balance of athletics and academics while truly embracing the overall student athlete experience here at Columbia," head coach Marybeth Freeman said. "Their dedication to excellence in the classroom is clearly illustrated through garnering these accolades. They represent all we aspire to achieve here at Columbia and a congrats to them for all their successes."
