NEW YORK – The Columbia heavyweight rowing team is set to compete at the EARC Sprints this weekend on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts on Sunday. Racing begins at 8 a.m. in the preliminary heats and the finales will commence at approximately 1:20 p.m. Follow all the action by clicking the links above.

The Lions have seen every team competing this weekend sans Wisconsin and MIT, who raced at Columbia’s home course in April, but never went head-to-head due to poor weather conditions.

In their last competition on May 4, the Lions were swept by Navy on Mercer Lake. The top two boats had a respectable outing against the No. 7 team in the land (or water if you will), finishing 2.9 seconds behind the Midshipmen in the varsity eight event and 4.1 off the pace in the second varsity eight race.

Last year at the Sprints, Columbia’s third varsity eights claimed a victory in the petite final to highlight the day of racing.
