WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - Columbia's heavyweight and lightweight rowing squads will wrap up the 2014 spring season at the IRA National Championships on Mercer Lake this weekend.

The heavyweights will take the water on Friday morning in the preliminary heats with the semifinals set to take place on Saturday and petite and grand finals on Sunday. The No. 4 lightweights will be in search of a medal for the second straight year when they compete on Sunday.

The Lions' heavweight varsity eight secured the final spot at the IRA's with a ninth place finish at the EARC Sprints on May 18. Columbia's top crew has improved its speed nearly in every race this season and will look to build on the strong Sprints performance.

Columbia's lightweights have been in the national spotlight all season long, ranking in the top-five of the USRowing Polls virtually all spring. The Lions enter the varsity eight boat that finished fourth in the grand final at EARC Sprints two weekends ago and a varsity four crew.
