The Lions swept all three races to retain the Collins Cup over Rutgers on March 30 in their first competitive race on the Harlem River since 2010. Columbia won convincingly in all three events, including a 23.76 victory by the first varsity eight and a 32.9 second triumph by the second eights.
Holy Cross opened its spring season against Marist on Lake Quinsigamond on March 30, winning the second varsity eight and freshman eight races.
MIT squared off against Boston College and Bates last weekend where they fielded three boats. All three earned victories on the day.
This will be Dartmouth’s first race of the spring season.
Last year, Columbia won the Alumni Cup for the third straight year. The Lions defeated MIT, the lone competitor for the cup, by a large margin, completing the course in 5:48.73. The Big Green pulled in 5.26 behind Columbia and the Crusaders followed with a time of 6:04.58.
