NEW YORK – The Columbia heavyweights return to action at the Eastern Sprints Regatta on Sunday, May 19 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
The Lions, ranked No. 14 in the USRowing Collegiate Poll, will look to recapture their winning ways from earlier in the spring after suffering four varsity eight defeats against some of the nation’s best crews.
In its last competition for the Stevenson Cup on March 5, Columbia fell to Navy by 4.7 seconds in the main event. The Midshipmen used an explosive start in the first 700 meters to carry them to victory.
On April 7, the Lions did find success on Lake Quinisigamond to reclaim the Alumni Cup for the fourth straight season and topping Dartmouth by nearly six seconds. Columbia completed the regatta in 5:50.9 despite windy conditions.
