Heavyweight Rowing's Bid for Doc Lusins Trophy Foiled
RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – The Columbia heavyweight rowing teams were felled in a quartet of races against Boston University in its quest for the Doc Lusins Trophy. Syracuse joined the regatta to compete for the Conlan Cup against the Terriers at Overpeck Lake.
In the main event, BU completed the 2,000-meter course in 6:00.9 to edge the Lions by 4.1 seconds.
The Terriers also picked up wins over Columbia and the Orange in the second and third eights as well as a varsity four race.
The Lions hit the water again next Saturday, May 4 when they race at Navy for the Maxwell Stevenson Cup.
