Heavyweight Rowers Take to Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday for Eastern Sprints

NEW YORK – Columbia's heavyweight rowing team will compete at the Eastern Sprints this Sunday, May 15 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.  The premier postseason event in Eastern collegiate rowing, the Eastern Sprints will host 17 varsity crews.  Columbia's varsity eight is seeded 11th going into Sunday's event.

Columbia's second varsity eight is seeded 13th and the freshman eight is seeded ninth heading into Sunday's race, which comes two weeks after Columbia's last regatta with Navy on April 30.

The heats for the Columbia heavyweights begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday and continue throughout the morning.  Finals will begin at approximately 1 p.m. on Sunday, based on the morning's results.  Columbia's morning heat schedule follows:

10 a.m.    Freshman Eight
10:36 a.m.     Second Varsity Eight
11:24 a.m. Varsity Eight
