Lightweight Rowing to Compete at Eastern Sprints on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond

NEW YORK – The Columbia lightweights will row at the 2011 Eastern Sprints at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. on Sunday, May 15, to start collegiate rowing's postseason.  Columbia's varsity eight is seeded ninth and its second varsity eight is seeded eighth in the final EARC seeding poll.

Columbia's freshman eight is its highest seeded boat, seeding second, only behind top-seeded Yale.  The Lions' freshman eight was recently nominated as a Crew of the Week by Row2K.com following the finish of a 9-1 regular season with two wins over Dartmouth on April 24.

The lightweight heats will begin at approximately 9:24 a.m. on Sunday and will continue throughout the morning.  Finals will take place in the afternoon on Sunday, based on the morning's results.  Columbia's heat schedule follows:

9:24 a.m.   Freshman Eight
10:12 a.m.    Second Varsity Eight
11:48 a.m. Varsity Eight
