NEW YORK – The Columbia lightweight rowing team has announced the addition of 12 newcomers that will join the squad this fall.

The talented class will aim to build upon the team’s successes from last season, which included a third place finish at the IRA Championships and a trip to the Henley Royal Regatta.

Warner Brown | Crestwood, Ky. | Deerfield

High School/Personal: Earned eight varsity letters, including three in crew at Deerfield High School… Team captain senior year.

Christopher Chang | Cupertino, Calif.  | Harker School

High School/Personal: Three-year letterwinner on the Harker School’s tennis team and played on varsity golf team as a senior… 2011 CIF Central Coast Scholastic Champion.

Trevor Docter | Los Altos, Calif. | Mountain View

High School/Personal: Won 2013 Youth National Championship in the lightweight 8+ and finished fourth at club nationals with the Union Boat Club…  Also won the San Diego Crew Classic and was a runner-up at the Southwest Regionals… Competed with Los Gatos Rowing Club from 2010-13 where he rowed at the Youth National Championships… Father, Eric Docter, was a pitcher at Ohio State University and sister, Taylor Docter, plays volleyball at Harvard.

Max Fenner | Berlin, Germany | Droste Hulschoff Gymnasium

High School/Personal: In 2011, finished first at the German Championship Lightweight 8+ and won at the Berlin Championship Lightweight... Also finished first in the U23 World Championship Trials and Club Nationals Senior Lightweight in 2013... Was on the Maritime Rowing Club and the U23 USA National Rowing Team.. Intends to major in Political Science and International Relations.

Oliver Grueterich | Riverside, Conn. | Greenwich

High School/Personal:  Sat in the stroke position during junior and senior seasons at Greenwich High School… Named team MVP in 2010 and 2011… Two-time competitor at the USRowing Youth National Championships…  AP Scholar with Honors, 2013 National Commended Scholar… Parents, Annette and Peter Grueterich, attended Columbia Business School.

Petros Krommidas | Baldwin, N.Y. | Chaminade High School

High School/Personal: Sat in the bow seat in first varsity boat as junior and senior at Chaminade High School… Crew finished second in 2012 and 2013 a the New York State Senior Eight… Competed at the US Rowing Youth Nationals in 2012 and 2013… Placed third at Club Nationals, Intermediate Junior Eight in 2012… Named most improved rower in fall of 2011… Member of National Honor Society and four-year Honor Roll student.

Ryan Madani | McLean, Va. | Thomas Jefferson

High School/Personal: Three-year letterwinner at Thomas Jefferson High School... Varsity’s most improved oarsman his junior year ... Won Occoquan Challenge with Northern Virginia Rowing Club his senior year, setting a course record… Academic Honor Role for three years and member of National Junior Honor Society.

David Mottola | Vienna, Va. | James Madison High School

High School/Personal: Captain of the rowing team senior year... In 2011, finished fourth at SRAA Nationals in LWT4+ and fifth at Stotesbury Cup in LWT4+ ... Third at USRowing Club Nationals in Junior A 2 in 2012… All-Met First Team in 2013.

Channing Prend | Exeter, N.H. | Phillips Exeter Academy

High School/Personal: Won 2013 NEIRA Championship with Exeter Academy Crew… Member of the National Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude.

Bryan Ptucha | New York, N.Y. | Fordham Prep

High School/Personal: Captain of crew at Fordham Prep in 2008 and 2009… Named Lightweight Rower of the Year in 2008-09 and was team MVP in 2009-10… Rowed with the New York Rowing Associationa and Pelham Community Rowing Association.., Held summer job as Captain America at FAO Schwartz and Times Square Toys R Us.

Noah Rivkin | Newton, Mass. | Newton South

High School/Personal: Earned letters in track and swimming at Newton South High School… Rowed at the 2012 Youth Nationals in the Men’s Lightweight Eight… Graduated Cum Laude.

Solomon Seckler | Boca Raton, Fla. | Pine Crest School

High School/Personal: Four-year member of rowing team at Pine Crest School… US Rowing Scholastic Honor Roll student… President-Beta Club (Honor Society)… Mother, Allison Barnett Seckler, MD, is a graduate of Barnard College (‘87BC)… Father, Jonathan Seckler, MD, graduated from Columbia College (‘87CC).
