Three Lightweight Rowing Alumni Will Represent United States at 2010 World Championships

NEW YORK – Three Columbia alumni will compete in the 2010 World Rowing Championships, USRowing announced recently.

Recent grads Nick LaCava '09, Bob Duff '10 and Mike Nucci '10 each will represent the United States in the World Championships, which are scheduled for October 31-November 7 in Lake Karapiro, New Zealand.

LaCava will row in the lightweight four (LM4-), while Duff will be in the lightweight eight with coxswain (LM8+) and Nucci will compete in the lightweight pair (LM2-).

LaCava, Duff and Nucci are part of an 80-person roster for the United States that includes 70 past national team members and 20 Olympians.  Forty-four athletes return from last year's squad that competed at the 2009 World Rowing Championships in Poznan, Poland.

The United States won seven medals in Poznan including gold in the women's eight, women's pair and men's pair with coxswain; silver in the women's four, lightweight men's eight and women's quad; and bronze in the lightweight women's quad.
