NEW YORK – Columbia's lightweight rowing team will compete in two regattas in two days this weekend, beginning with the Geiger Cup on Saturday, April 23 at 4 p.m.  The Geiger Cup will be up for grabs among Columbia, Cornell and MIT on Orchard Beach Lagoon on Saturday. 

Saturday's race will be broadcast live online and fans can also listen over the phone by calling 212-381-9645.

A day later, Columbia will race Dartmouth for the Subin Cup in Hanover, N.H. on Sunday, April 24, beginning at 12:20 p.m.

Last week in the Dodge Cup, Columbia put together its best day of racing this spring.  The varsity eight defeated Penn to take second place in the Dodge Cup, battling through conditions that resembled a North Atlantic storm.

Directions to Glen Island Park:

From South:

I-95N to exit 8B (Orchard Beach/City Island)

You will exit onto Shore Road.  Stay on Shore Road through traffic circle and turn right onto Weyman Avenue (second light after the blinking yellow light at the New York Athletic Club).  Go over bridge onto Glen Island, crew launch area is on the right.  

From North:

I-95S to Exit 15 (US-1, New Rochelle, The Pelhams)

At end of ramp turn LEFT (east) onto US-1/Main St.

Follow US-1/Main St. to the first major intersection (Weyman Ave) and turn RIGHT (south) onto Weyman Ave.  Stay on Weyman Ave. across Pelham Road, then go over bridge onto Glen Island.  Crew launch area is on the right.    

Directions to Orchard Beach finish line tower:

From South:

I-95 to exit 8B (Orchard Beach/City Island)

You will exit onto Shore Road.  Follow signs for Orchard Beach; they will take you right at the traffic circle, then left at the next intersection.  Finish line tower will be on your left.  Park in lot on right, NOT along road next to finish line.

From North:

I-95S to Exit 15 (US-1, New Rochelle, The Pelhams)

At end of ramp turn LEFT (east) onto US-1/Main St.

Follow US-1/Main St. to the first major intersection (Weyman Ave) and turn RIGHT (south) onto Weyman Ave.

Turn right onto Pelham Road (before Glen Island approach).

Go past New York Athletic Club to traffic circle and follow signs for Orchard Beach; they will take you right at the traffic circle, then left at the next intersection.  Finish line tower will be on your left.  Park in lot on right, NOT along road next to finish line.
