Lightweight Rowing Ready for IRA Regatta on Saturday Morning

NEW YORK – The Columbia lightweight rowing team is set to compete at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships on Saturday, June 4 on the Cooper River in Camden County, N.J.  It is the 109th edition of the annual IRA Regatta and Columbia will begin the competition at 7:20 a.m.

By virtue of winning the Petite Final at the Eastern Sprints on May 15, Columbia's varsity eight advanced to the IRA National Championships, which will compete in the second heat at 7:31 a.m. against Navy, Yale and Dartmouth.  After the second heat, the team will either advance to the Petite Final (11:30 a.m.) or the Grand Final (11:45 a.m.)

Fans can view a webcast of the IRA National Championships and the ECAC will provide an audio cast of Saturday's races live on StretchInternet.com.  Listeners without web access may tune in to the IRA Championships via telephone connection at 508-534-7389.
