LaCava and U.S. Men's Lightweight Four Win Repechage, Advance to B Final

LONDON - Columbia alum Nick LaCava '09 and the United States men's lightweight four advanced to the semifinals on Tuesday morning after winning the repechage on Sunday.

In the repechage, the United States boat crossed the line in a time of 6:00.86, defeating Italy by eight-tenths of a second. The Czech Republic finished third and Poland fourth.

In Tuesday's semifinal race, the U.S. finished fifth in a time of 6:05.06, eliminating itself from medal contention. Great Britain won the first semifinal in a time of 5:59.68.

Although the lightweight men's four is eliminated from medal contention, LaCava and his teammates will race in the B Final with China, Italy, France, Germany and the Czech Republic. That race will take place on Thursday, August 2 at 5 a.m. local time.
