Libby Peters, a 2006 Columbia graduate, four-year rower and former co-captain, returned to Morningside Heights in August 2011 as the assistant coach for the women's rowing team, joining the staff of first-year head coach Scott Ramsey.

"I am thrilled to have Libby return to Columbia as an assistant coach," Ramsey said. "She will be an outstanding role model for the women on our team and she is passionate about bringing the Lions to the highest level of success in the Ivy League and the NCAA."

Peters, now entering her third season, was awarded CRCA Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2013 after helping the Lions' varsity eight earn win an EAWRC Sprints Championship as well as picking up varsity eight victories at the Dunn Bowl and Connell Cup.

A former United States National Team member, Peters founded and was the executive director of Philadelphia City Rowing, the first free competitive rowing program open to any public school student in Philadelphia.  With Philadelphia City Rowing, Peters coached a year-round program comprised of 50 students that competed in the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association.  Peters also has coaching experience with the Vesper Boat Club and at the The Shipley School and The Gunnery.

As a member of the U.S. National Team, Peters was the stroke of the lightweight quad, which won a bronze medal at the 2008 World Championships.  That same year, Peters helped her boat place second at the Olympic Trials.  Peters has loads of international rowing experience, not only with the U.S. National Team, but also at the CRASH-b World Championships and the Canadian Henley Regatta.

While at Columbia, Peters was named the most valuable member of the varsity crew that year, serving as a co-captain. In 2009, Peters was one of 25 alumnae selected to the Columbia Women's Athletics Silver Anniversary Honor Roll.

An Academic All-Ivy League honoree, she majored in 20th century U.S. history with a minor in Middle Eastern studies.  In 2010, Peters completed the Business Essentials Certificate Program at Penn's Wharton School of Business.
