A Dozen Newcomers in Class of 2015 Set to Join Women's Rowing

NEW YORK -- Twelve newcomers will join the Columbia women's rowing team for the upcoming 2011-12 season, the first under new head coach Scott Ramsey.  It is a class that represents eight states and the country of Taiwan and will add depth and versatility to the current squad.

Several members of the class have competed at the Youth National Championships and at other prestigious races, including the Head of the Charles Regatta, with their high school and club crews.  The women's rowing class of 2015 follows:

Augusta Harris - 5-10 - BC - Berwyn, Pa. - Conestoga
Nora Long - 5-9 - CC - North Palm Beach, Fla. - Kent School
Kira Parks - 5-8 - BC - Bronxville, N.Y. - Taft School
Sara Romano - 5-8 - CC - Havertown, Pa. - Merion Mercy Academy
Julia Sclafani - 5-9 - CC - Newport Beach, Calif. - Newport Harbor
Lauren Sweitzer - 5-9 - CC - New Canaan, Conn. - Kent School
Alexandra Swift - 5-8 - CC - Kenilworth, Ill. - New Trier
Meredith Venerus - 5-4 - CC - Malta, N.Y. - Ballston Spa
