PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia women’s rowing was well represented in the 2013 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division I Regional honors, highlighted by head coach Scott Ramsey being named Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.

In addition, Libby Peters was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the CRCA, while seniors Samantha Warren and Nikki Bourassa garnered first team All-Region honors. Fellow senior Rebecca Randall earned a spot on the second team, respectively.

The Lions recently completed one of the best seasons in program history, helping the varsity eight post a 5-1 record which included wins at the Woodbury Cup and Connell Cup regattas, both firsts for the women’s program. Columbia qualified for the grand final at the Ivy League Championships and claimed first place out of 12 crews at the EARWC Sprints on May 5.

Nominated student-athletes were evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season.

These athletes are eligible for All-America honors to be announced following the 2013 NCAA Women's Rowing Championships, which are May 31-June 2 at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.

The CRCA also released its 2012-13 National Scholar-Athletes which included Jocelyn Bohn, Bourassa, Karli McMenamin, Randall and Jessica Werlin.

The student-athletes were selected for maintaining a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year) and met all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility and rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.
