Jakl and Quinn Post Strong Showing at NCAA Swimming Championships
In the prelims of the men’s 200m butterfly, Jakl raced off to a time of 1:43.25, setting a new Columbia record in the event and placing 12th overall. In the ‘B’ Finals, Jakl recorded a time just shy of his prelim mark, coming in at 1:43.98, still holding strong to 12th place to claim honorable mention All-America accolades.
Jakl was also in action in the 50m and 100m butterfly events. In the 50m event he registered a time of 20.24 to come in 48th in the prelims, while his 47.01 finish in the 100m placed him 27th.
Quinn also competed in two events, the 200m IM and the 200 butterfly. His top finish came in the 200m butterfly, posting a time of 1:44.04, good for 25th. In the 200m IM, Quinn touched the wall in 1:48.82, placing him 55th.
Through Saturday’s events, Columbia stood in 40th place with five team points.
