You are on a strong start to your first-year at Columbia. With multiple wins in the 100 and 200 free events, you’ve come in and contributed right away. What has it been like for you to come in and perform so well?

"I feel very fortunate to be able to adjust to the program almost instantly this year. This also makes the effort I put in over the summer and during the season worthwhile. Starting off the season strong also puts me in a position with the confidence I need going into the championship season."

What has been your key focus throughout the season?

"My focus is to give my best at meets and practices in order for me to reach my goals this season. I think being an athlete of an individual sport like swimming; this is the best way to generate as much positive impact as I can on this team."

All of you constantly train hard and work to get better. What’s been the hardest thing for you this season?

"The frequency and intensity of the training here is a huge step up from what I’m used to. I went from training 4-5 times a week to as much as 10 practices a week. But the extra training will certainly put me in a better shape than ever before."

The team has won its second straight with the victory over Cornell last Saturday. With three conference meets on the road ahead, what do you feel the team needs to do to keep this momentum going?

"We’ve certainly put in the hard work at the beginning of the season and during training trip. All we need to do now is to focus on getting enough rest everyday and staying healthy. And most importantly be mentally prepared for the upcoming championship meet."

What’s been the best part of the season so far?

"The dual meet against Yale was the highlight of the season so far. When a meet comes down to the last relay, it’s all about who’s more eager to win. I think our victory in that last relay really shows how resilient and driven this team is to progress and to win."
