NEW YORK - Over the past two months, the Columbia men's swimming and diving team has become one of the hottest teams in the Ivy League. The 8-2 Lions will ride their momentum to Providence, R.I. this weekend to battle for the Ivy League crown at the 2013 Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Brown's Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.

The three-day meet starts on Thursday, March 7 at 11 a.m. with a group of preliminary events. Each day will begin with 11 a.m. preliminaries, and then conclude with finals sessions at 6 p.m. Click the link above to view the full schedule of events.

Adult ticket prices are set for $30 event passes, $4 one-day prelim tickets and $6 one-night finals tickets. Children (under 12) and student prices are $1 one-day prelims and $3 one-night finals tickets.

The Lions head into this weekend's championships having won seven consecutive dual meets. At 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the Ivy League, Columbia finished the regular season tied for second place in the conference standings with Princeton and Yale. The Lions' win streak saw victories over three non-conference opponents and three Ivy League foes, including a exhilarating win over defending Ivy League Champions No. 22 Princeton.

The big win was symbolic of a Columbia program that continues to rise to the challenge each time they hit the pool. Sophomore David Jakl has put together a stellar sophomore year to aid the Lions' successful season. Jakl has posted five wins in three meets in the past month. Against Princeton, he won the 200 butterfly (1:47.51), the 200 backstroke (1:48.25) and the 100 butterfly (49.49). He is one of the leading Lions that will head into the championships with several top-15 league times. He ranks 12th overall in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:39.37, sixth with a time of 1:48.25 in the 200 backstroke, fifth with a time of 1:47.51 in the 200 fly and third in the 100 butterfly with his winning time of 48.50.

Another swimmer that has hit big stride this season is Alex Ngan. The sophomore put together a successful performance at the 2013 ECAC Championships last weekend, grabbing three wins in the meet. His winning time of 48.39 in the 100 butterfly stands second overall in the Ivy League this season. Ngan won the 50 freestyle at the ECAC's with a sixth best Ivy League time of 20.28 and won the 100 freestyle in an eighth best Ivy League time of 44.61.

On the boards, Columbia will be represented by a group of the league's best.  Micah Rembrandt and Jason Collazo have led the diving core this season and have consistently performed at a high level against all competition.
