The Columbia men's swimming and diving team improve to 6-2 on the year with wins over Boston University and Brown in double dual tri-meet in Boston, Mass. The Lions defeated the Terriers 196-102 and with a 190.5-106.5 victory over Brown, Columbia stands at 2-2 in the Ivy League.
Junior Jason Collazo ignited the Lions winning both diving events to start the meet. Collazo took the 1mtr diving event with 308.15 points and the 3mtr diving event with 334.95 points. First-year Micah Rembrandt took second place in the 3mtr diving event tallying 281.95 points.
The squad of first-year Omar Arafa, Senior Bruno Esquen, Junior John Wright, and first-year Stanley Wong continued with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 18.58. Senior Chester Dols would follow with a victory in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:34.87. Arafa went on to take first place in the 100 yard freestyle finishing with a time of 43.58.
Firsr-year Dominik Koll added another first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 139.66. First-year Daniel Tan placed second in the event with a time of 1:41.85. First-year David Jakl took a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 52.20 and first-year Alex Ngan won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.08
The Lions continued to roll in the 200 yard backstroke with a win from first-year Jeremie DeZwirek with a finishing time of 1:51.87. Sophomore Eric Traub capped the day with a win in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 207.15.
Columbia will hit the road on Friday, Feb. 3 for their next meet taking on the Midshipmen of Navy.
