NEW YORK - Just a few days removed from a historic showing at the 2013 Ivy League Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, Katie Meili and Alena Kluge have both punched their ticket to the 2013 NCAA Women's Swimming Championships to be held in Indianapolis, Ind. on March 21 - 23.

This marks the first time in program history that the Columbia women's swimming team has qualified two swimmers in the NCAA championships. Meili posted qualifying times in three events including the 200 IM, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. Kluge will make her championships debut in the 400 IM.

Meili has set 10 individual pool records this season at Yale, Cornell, Rutgers, Princeton and in Uris pool. For the second straight year at the Ivy League Championships, Meili was voted by the coaches as the Swimmer of the Meet and was the 2013 Career High Point Swimmer. She finished the championships with three individual titles, including three Princeton pool records, three school records and two Ivy League records.

A multi-dimensional swimmer, Meili has national top 15 times in the 200 IM, 200 breaststroke and the 100 breaststroke. She heads into the NCAA championships with a 15th-place seed time of 2:09.41 in the 200 breast, a seventh-place seed time of 1:55.09 in the 200 IM and holds the nation's fourth best time in the 100 breast at 58.44.

Kluge capped her regular season with a big second day at the 2013 Ivy League Championships. Kluge returned in the 400 IM finals for an electrifying win, hitting the wall just .02 seconds faster than Harvard's Courtney Ott. Her career best time of 4:11.89, gave the Lions its first Ivy League title on that day and ranks 37th nationally.
