NEW YORK - Junior guard Noruwa Agho and sophomore swimmer Katie Meili have been named the Student-Athletes of the Month for December. On top of studying for exams and the excitement of the holidays, Agho and Meili had a number of strong performances during December.

Agho helped lead Columbia to a 4-1 record during the month of December as the Lions closed out December on a four-game win streak. Agho filled the stat sheet with 12.8 points, 7.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game and scored in double figures four times during the month. After big performances in wins against Wagner and Bryant, Agho was named Ivy League Co-Player of the Week. In each of the five games, Agho handed out at least five assists and also got it done on the defensive end, with three steals in Columbia's win over Stony Brook. He then finished with a season-high four steals in the win against Wagner.

Meili continued her strong start to the 2010-11 season in December, as she had multiple first place finishes in the Lions' two dual meets. Against Wagner, Meili helped lead the Lions to their first dual meet win of the year, taking the top spots in the 200 IM, the 100 breast, and the 200 free relay. The sophomore also had two wins in Columbia's dual meet against Penn, as she won the 50 free in 24.28, and also won the 200 IM in 2:05.77. Meili's strong month in December was a continuation of her impressive performances in November. In only the second meet of the year, Meili set a new pool record in the 50 free, breaking a time that had stood since 2003.
