PRINCETON, N.J. – This weekend, the Columbia track & field team is competing in the 2013 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships in one of the last-chance qualifying meets around the country. On Friday, May 10, the Lions kicked-off opening day with a number of regional performances in the three day meet.
In the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, junior Chelsea Carrick took fourth in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase with a career-best time of 10:26.14. Carrick’s top time of 10:26.14 currently ranks 23rd in the east region and looks to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
Another notable performance came from junior Caroline Williams, who took fifth place in the women’s 5,000m run with a career-best time of 16:27.87.
On the men’s side, Mark Feigen led a dominating Columbia performance in the 5,000m run at the IC4A Outdoor Championships with a runner-up finish. Feigen’s East Preliminary qualifying time of 14:00.63 currently ranks 30th in the region. The Lions posted several strong performances in the event with Mike Murphy placing seventh at 14:14.34 and Leighton Spencer placed eighth at 14:14.64.
