SOUTH BEND, Ind. – On Saturday, Feb. 22, the Columbia men's and women's track and field team competed in its final tune up before the Ivy League Champions at Norte Dame. The Lions put together a record day at the Alex Wilson Invitational and look to be in impressive form heading into the climax of the indoor season.
The quartet of John Gregorek, Harrison McFann, Brendon Fish Daniel Everett crushed the school record in the men's distance medley relay with a combined time of 9:30.72. The squad posted the ninth fastest time in the nation to sweeten their chances to compete at the NCAA's, as the top-12 times qualify.
On the women’s side, the quartet of Olivia Sadler, Jaycee Parker, Trina Bills and Waverly Neer also set the program record in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:16.65. The Lions posted the 16th fastest time in the country with the impressive run.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend from Friday, March 1- Saturday March 2 to compete in the 2014 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships in New Hanover, N.H.
