Track & Field Ready For 118th Penn Relays This Week

NEW YORK – The Columbia track & field team will look to shine on one of the outdoor season’s brightest stages this Thursday through Saturday when the Lions head down to Philadelphia to compete in the 118th running of Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

Some of the best athletes from around the nation will be on hand for the world’s largest and oldest relay carnival. Columbia is slated to compete in 23 events, including four Championship of America relays.

Tickets for Thursday’s and Friday’s events are $24 for general admission. Tickets for Saturday’s action range from $30 to $50. For more ticket information call 1-855-UofPTix or go to the ticket page at PennRelays.com by clicking here.

Fans can also watch all of the action through Penn Relays TV. Coverage for Thursday's and Friday's events is $5.95 each day. Saturday coverage is $7.95 (does notinclude USA vs. The World). The three-day pass is $15.95. For more info on viewing the live video stream, click here.

Three of the Championship of America relays Columbia is competing in are on the men’s side. Friday at 4 p.m., the Lions will run in the College Men’s Distance Medley Championship of America with the quartet of John Gregorek, Kevin Boyd, Harry McFann and Kyle Merber.

On Saturday, Columbia runs in the College Men’s 4xMile Championship of America at 1:25 p.m. with the team of Merber, Adam Behnke, Daniel Everett and Mark Feigen. The squad of Brendon Fish, McFann, Liam Tansey and Connor Claflin will race in the College Men’s 4x800m Championship of America at 4:40 p.m.

On the women’s side, Columbia quartet of Erin Gillingham, Madeline Rathbun, Jennifer DeSouchet and Trina Bills will compete in the College Women’s 4x800 Championship of America on Saturday at 4:10 p.m.

4 p.m. – College Women’s Long Jump Eastern (Nadia Eke)
4 p.m. – College Women’s Discus Throw College (Joanna Koronios)
6:30 p.m. – College Women’s 4x400 Heptagonal
7:30 p.m. – College Men’s 3,000m Steeplechase Championship (Joseph Kotran)
8 p.m. – College Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase Championship (Mallory Anderson)
8:30 p.m. – College Women’s 3,000m Championship (Anne Carey)
8:40 p.m. – College Women’s 5,000m Championship (Waverly Neer)
9:20 p.m. – College Men’s 5,000m Championship (Justin Heck)
