NEW YORK – The Columbia track & field team will look to shine on one of the outdoor season’s brightest stages this Thursday through Saturday when the Lions head down to Philadelphia to compete in the 118th running of Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

Some of the best athletes from around the nation will be on hand for the world’s largest and oldest relay carnival. Columbia is slated to compete in 23 events, including four Championship of America relays.

Three of the Championship of America relays Columbia is competing in are on the men’s side. Friday at 4 p.m., the Lions will run in the College Men’s Distance Medley Championship of America with the quartet of John Gregorek, Kevin Boyd, Harry McFann and Kyle Merber.

On Saturday, Columbia runs in the College Men’s 4xMile Championship of America at 1:25 p.m. with the team of Merber, Adam Behnke, Daniel Everett and Mark Feigen. The squad of Brendon Fish, McFann, Liam Tansey and Connor Claflin will race in the College Men’s 4x800m Championship of America at 4:40 p.m.

On the women’s side, Columbia quartet of Erin Gillingham, Madeline Rathbun, Jennifer DeSouchet and Trina Bills will compete in the College Women’s 4x800 Championship of America on Saturday at 4:10 p.m.
