LONDON - On the eighth day of the 2012 Summer Olympics, Columbia alum Erison Hurtault '07CC ran a season-best 46.05 in the seventh and final heat of the 400m.

Hurtault ran for the island country of Dominica. One of two athletes in the Dominica contingent, Hurtault was the flag bearer for his father's native country in last week's Opening Ceremonies.

Although Hurtault posted his best time of the season, it placed fifth overall in the heat, .59 seconds behind the qualification mark for the semifinals. Kevin Borlee of Belgium won the seventh heat in a time of 45.14.

On Sunday, August 5, two more Columbians will be in action. Former Columbia fencer Sherif Farrag '09CC will fence for Egypt in the men's foil team competition. The round of 16 will begin at 4 a.m. Eastern time with Egypt facing Great Britain.

Also on Sunday, former cross country standout Lisa Stublic '06CC will compete in the women's marathon, representing Croatia, where her father was born. The marathon will begin at 6 a.m. Eastern time.
