Day Two: Columbia Has Record Day At Franklin Field

Penn Relays Full Schedule of Events

PHILADELPHIA – On Friday, April 25, the Columbia track & field team returned for the second day of competition in the Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The Lions put together an impressive outing that saw four new school records.

Nadia Eke began the morning with a solid showing in the women’s triple jump championship. Eke posted a leap of 12.84m for sixth-place overall, marking at top-20 east region measure.

The Lions followed with a record-breaking performance in the women’s 4x1500m Championship of America relay. The quartet of Olivia Sadler, Waverly Neer, Anna Williams and Trina Bills became the first squad in program history to finish under the 18-minute mark with a fifth-place time of 17:56.59.

In the women’s 4x200 heats, the squad of Jaycee Parker, Ashley Cunningham, Maura McKendrick and Iris Chijioke added to the record-setting day. The sprinters combined for a Columbia record time of 1:35.96.

The men’s team followed suit in the men’s distance medley Championship of America relay. With a preogram-record time of 9:37.67, the foursome of Brendon Fish, Noah Lartigue, Harrison McFann and John Gregorek also placed sixth overall. En route to a collective record-setting run, McFann ran a new school record in the 800m leg with at time of 1:46.93.

The Lions capped the day with a fourth-place finish in the men’s 4x400 heptagonal relay with a time of 3:16.97 by Corey Hammond, Noah Lartigue , Kevin Boyd and Ronald Busby.
