NEW YORK - The Columbia men's squash team heads to Annapolis, Md. on Tuesday, Jan. 10 to face the 15th-ranked Naval Academy. The Lions will look to improve to 2-2 on season as they take on their first opponent of the 2012 calendar year. Columbia will look to avenge an 8-1 home defeat by the Midshipmen last season.

LAST TIME OUT

Columbia has started the 2011-12 season showing signs of growth and advancement. The Lions lost their first two matches to sixth-ranked Cornell and 12th-ranked St. Lawrence. The team bounced back in its latest match to defeat 16th-ranked Bates at home in Street Squash.

The Lions have climbed four spots in the rankings to 16th, partially led by the outstanding play of first-year Ramit Tandon. Tandon is 3-0 to begin the season, winning all three matches in straight sets against the no. 1s of Cornell, St. Lawrence, and Bates.

SCOUTING THE MIDSHIPMEN

The 15th-ranked Naval Academy, with an overall season record of 15-4, will host its third Ivy League opponent of the season in Columbia. After beginning the season winning 13 straight matches, Navy  lost four straight, including two home matches to Ivy League opponents #7 Dartmouth and #9 Penn. However, the Midshipmen will enter the match on a three game win streak with defeats over Bowdoin, Colby, and Bates College.
