NEW YORK - On Saturday, Dec. 7 at 11 a.m., the No.11 Columbia men’s squash team will jump into Ivy League competition at No. 8 Cornell as they begin a string of five straight road contests. The Lions are coming off a 9-0 home win over No. 29 George Washington to open the season at 1-0. Columbia grabbed the victory in impressive fashion winning in straight sets at every position.
Last season, these two teams went head-to-head in a closely contested match. The match remained up in the air until the final three matches, but it would be Cornell that would come away with the 5-4 victory.
The Big Red have sprinted out to a 2-0 start prevailing through some early test this season. No. 8 Cornell edged No. 21 Drexel on the road in the team’s season opener and held strong at home with a 6-3 win over No. 9 Western Ontario in its last outing.
