WASHINGTON, D.C. - In its first weekend of competition as a varsity team, the #33 Columbia men's squash team split a pair of matches on Saturday, November 20.  The Lions dropped their first match 7-2 to George Washington, before bouncing back to earn their first victory over Georgetown, 5-4.

In its first match against #19 George Washington, a pair of first-years picked up the lone wins for Columbia.  Theo Buchsbaum defeated Mike Bower in three games at #4, while his classmate Alec Goldberg held on for a 3-2 win over Brett Feldman at #5.

Against Georgetown, currently ranked #29 in the nation, the Lions won their first varsity match in a close battle.  Graham Miao and Tony Zou, both transfers from New York University, picked up 3-0 wins at the #1 and #2 spots over Nigel Anthony and Patrick Trousdale, respectively.  Senior tri-captain Clayton Dahlman also had a 3-0 win over Robert Moore at #3.  Buchsbaum picked up his second win of the day by defeating Chris Ahn 3-0 at #4, and Andrew Tan, playing in the sixth spot, downed Anthony Imbesi 3-0 to give the Lions the win.

Columbia (1-1) returns to action on January 14-16 when it takes part in the Pioneer Valley Invitational at in Amherst, Mass.
