Men's Squash to Compete at Pioneer Valley Invitational

AMHERT, Mass. - The Columbia men's squash team returns to action on January 14-16 when it takes part in the Pioneer Valley Invitational.  The Lions, who have not competed since November 20, will play four matches over two days.

Saturday, January 15 vs. Connecticut College at 1 p.m.

Saturday, January 15 vs. Colby at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, January 16 vs. Hobart at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday, January 16 vs. Wesleyan at 12:30 p.m.

After starting the season ranked No. 33 in the country, the Lions have moved their way up in the latest poll.  According to the College Squash Association's latest rankings released in early December, Columbia men's squash sits at the No. 27 spot.

In their first weekend of varsity competition, the Lions split a pair of matches back in November.  Columbia fell 7-2 to then-ranked No. 19 George Washington, but bounced back to upset then-No. 29 Georgetown, 5-4. First-years Theo Buchsbaum and Alec Goldberg picked up the team's two wins against George Washington at #4 and #5.  Buchsbaum also won his second match of the day against Georgetown, in addition to wins by Graham Miao (#1), Tony Zou (#2), Clayton Dahlman (#3), and Andrew Tan (#6).

Columbia (1-1) will return to action on Friday, January 21 when the Lions host Navy in their first home match of the season.  The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Street Squash facility on 116th Street (enter between 5th and Lenox on 115th Street).
